Photos by Harry Allen from the Fire & Ice Photo Tour 2009
The Nature Explorer Fire and Ice Photo tour was our second trip to Iceland and it is by far the best way to see the "real Iceland." We toured the backcountry that few people ever get to see - incredible waterfalls, glaciers, geysers, bubbling mud pots, vast stretches of black volcanic sand, and some of the most amazing neon green moss that practically glows. Iceland is famous for its geologic and scenic wonders and our guides knew exactly where to get us for the best lighting. They were willing to stop for unexpected sights - full rainbows, sheep resting on the hillsides, Icelandic horses by the water. We brought back great images and also found great new friends. Package tours are fine, but this is the only way to see what Iceland is really like. We plan to come back.
